Louise Snow
Louise Snow joined the Davidson County Woodcarvers in 1995, and has carved for 12 years. She had worked with wood all her life, and started painting resin Santas many years ago, thinking that she should try carving some of them. Enrolling in a carving class at Forsyth Technical College, she learned techniques under the guidance of Wayne Covert, who at that time was president of DCWC. He encouraged her to attend a meeting and learn from others that shared her interest, and thus, the circle completes. She served as club secretary for 2 years.
Louise’s specialty is Santas of all shapes, sizes, and character. She has been featured on the FOX8 TV program, Roy’s Folks, discussing her love of these roly-poly figures that she brings to life from a blank piece of wood. She also makes beautiful heirlooms using the method of “chip-carving”, taking away small triangular pieces of the wood to create a final presentation.
